Splendidly Attractive Art Deco 3 Drawer Cabinet C1930

From the early 1930s, this walnut cabinet is exquisite in detail with the use of ebony, walnut, mother of pearl and other exotic woods to form fine details in marquetry of flowers and butterflies and not forgetting the details to the edges and corners. Wonderful British craftsmanship throughout the piece including a lovely panelled back with design number stamped.

Made by B.Cohen & Sons a prominent, long-running London furniture manufacturer (1848-1968), known for quality, often Art Deco-styled pieces, including their "Gaylayde" range, featuring beautiful marquetry and exotic woods, sold in high-end stores. The "Gaylayde" range was particularly notable, first shown in 1926. We have a maker's label in the top drawer.

The cabinet sits well on its handsome feet with historic wear, a few marks to the top and aging in places but nothing fresh. We have carefully cleaned and ensured it is ready for placing.

A super piece of smaller proportions and very placeable, early 1930s.
