Highly Original Bentwood Desk Armchair c1930

Sale price £0.00

A very original bentwood armchair by Mundus and Kohn who merged with Thonet in 1922 and very much the same as the Thonet  967 model.

Jacob Kohn (1791-1868) and his son Josef Kohn (1818-1884) of Vienna (Wien) Austria founded a company (known as J. & J. Kohn) that made wooden parts for buildings in 1849. Around 1867, the company began making furniture and started factories in many cities. In 1914 the company merged with Mundus, a holding company in Vienna, and became Kohn-Mundus. Kohn-Mundus merged with Thonet in 1922.

The chair is of lovely form and condition with some genuine wear to the frame and seat - a few aged holes but perfectly usable - Mark our upholsterer could re-upholster the seat in leather for £110 plus VAT if you so desire. Paper labels to underside of seat.

A lovely shaped bentwood chair, in essence by Thonet c1930s.
