Gordon Russell Mid Century Satinwood and Indian Rosewood Sideboard

Probably one of Gordon Russell’s most gorgeous Mid Century sideboards in a perfect combination of Satinwood and Indian Rosewood. It’s a lesser known piece designed by Curly Russell and finished to a high standard in its workshops by a quality craftsman.

We have a useful combination with this wonderful piece with two flights of 4 drawers gently angled to fit with the curved front. The top drawers to the left are sectioned off with chocolate coloured baize for cutlery and the like. The two door cupboard has various useful heights of fixed shelves well finished with a planed edge. As you would expect both the satinwood and rosewood is of a lovely tone with grain matching on drawers etc.

Condition wise it’s been well cared for and sits in its original Gordon Russell workshop finish. The tones are still rich, still glowing with very little fading, the little trumpet shaped rosewood knobs are in situ and we have a little gentle wear to the top etc but nothing nasty or deep. We do have a tiny piece of veneer missing on the lower 4th drawer on the left but nothing to lose sleep over…
