A Good Early 1930s English Oak Hallstand
Well equipped for more modern times with an assortment of original brass hooks, glove box, mirror with a little shelf underneath, two spaces for umbrellas and a cupboard for hats, scarves and the odd pair of shoes - what more could you want? And of course, it’s a handsome piece to boot!
This one possesses a pleasing tone and is well crafted dating from the early 1930s. The brass fittings are pleasingly tarnished rather than highly polished, the mirror is crack free and all cupboards are working as they should. We would say well cared for rather than left to grow old in a shed or barn. It does have a pair of iron supports to its rear probably used to support the oak frame, not something you see to be honest.
A good-looking English oak hallstand.
