A rather handsome chest of drawers which survives in original condition from the mid Victorian period. The chest is in an as found condition, has two short drawers and three long graduated drawers, all of its dark wood knobs (one is slightly split but usable) are in situ. We love the four bulbous legs it sits on with the front ones being slightly larger than the rear.
The chest possesses pot fulls of appeal, being in its untouched condition with bumps, bruises, marks, stains and worn marks in places giving it a rather marvellous used look which is difficult to replicate. We have waxed the surface and given her a good clean inside to ensure she is ready for use.
The drawers are running freely remembering they are around 150 years old and the carcass is firm with wear to the bulbous legs.
If you are looking for mint then best forget this one, however if you are seeking a piece that radiates a personality, possesses history and maybe, just maybe has a story to tell then this is worth purchasing.
These chests of drawers in their original untouched condition are getting harder to discover and have heaps of uses and certainly don’t look out of place in hallways, sitting or breakfast rooms offering great storage coupled with an air of grace and real charm.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 104cm x Width 104cm x Depth 46.5cm
We include UK mainland delivery in the purchase price so you are able to relax rather than search for quotes or asking a friend of a friend to borrow a van!
