Delightfully Shaped Victorian Period Country House Armchair
It owns that profile and appearance that some do not and is in a condition that means you can plonk it down and enjoy its comfort or decide to recover in a fabric of your choice.
Surviving from the period that packed a big punch when it came to chair design and comfort, this one dates to the back end of the Victorian era around 1900 and it has to be said that it’s a beauty.
The lightly curved base and classic country house arms are two of its big plus points. Condition wise it’s very good. Its frame is firm and weighty. The stout legs and brass castors are in the right order, the tapestry fabric, a rich mix of flowers, fruits and leaves in a teastain colourway, is a little faded and thread bear on the front of the arms and the front of the feather filled cushion – nothing wrong with that! The armchair and its matching feather filled bolster cushion smell fine and have been carefully steam cleaned so it’s ready to enjoy.
Some armchairs just have style – we reckon this one isn’t too bad!
