Early 20th Century English Country Pine Conserves Jam Pickles Pantry Cupboard
A great looking pantry cupboard which would have been used to store jams, pickles, conserves and preserves. Surviving from the early part of the 20th century and country in origin rather than a town piece.
It’s a great looking stained pine cupboard which has bags of slatted pine making four deep shelves behind its two panelled doors perfect for jams, ingredients or maybe crockery. It’s certainly got a country feel to it and we would say carpenter built maybe for a large farmhouse or country home. The two large doors are simply panelled with tongue and grove pine. The thick planked top and sides are pleasingly worn with marks and blemishes – maybe jam! The bottom plinth also possesses decent historic wear. The inside is an array of slatted shelves – all in good nick and clean. The cupboard is sitting firm, well made and smells fine being dry stored.
A fab looking piece of country furniture with bags of uses including the guardian of jam.
