Vintage Industrial 1930 Government 2 Drawer Oak Desk, Green Top
A cracker and presented in an unmessed condition and such a neat little size. Marked with GR.VI and the crown logo on the underside of the top towards the front, denoting that the desk was inventoried during the reign of George VI and was first used in a government building and stamped with the makers mark Wake & Dean and dated 1938.
The green top is original with the oak edge, again, appropriately worn with time, numerous dimples, one cup ring mark but no rips or tears to the green insert. The drawers bear the original GR stamped cupped brass handles and locks are present however no keys. The slightly tapered legs are very much of the type and era and are in decent shape with no repairs or faults.
Any bad bits – not really… the drawers are running fine and surprisingly clean internally. As mentioned before there are no rips or cuts to the green top which is nice and the frame and legs are firm. The desk has been checked over, cleaned and lightly waxed.
A classic English work desk aging well and of an accommodating size.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 77cm x Width 121cm x Depth 68cm
