J Foot and Son of London Edwardian Reclining Convalescent Chair - Just Wonderful

In Victorian and Edwardian times they invented and made some wonderful furniture and now we’re selling a J Foot and Son Reclining Convalescent Chair. It pretty much epitomises the eras’ creative leaning towards giving customers what they wanted with a massive dose of style!
The chair is fairly much in original condition – not sure about the castors – but hey that’s a minor detail when you look at the overall state of the chair and matching adjustable stool. Both arms on the chair are levered with brass fittings to make life just a little bit easier to get in and out. The chair is fully reclining with a brass lever to one side if you wish to take a quick 40 winks. It possesses a rather grand looking little table which is perched on brass fittings – we assume to rest ones pipe on or maybe a light lunch of curried eggs. The large multi height stool fits under the chair and is in good condition apart from missing a short length of webbing (not affecting the use).
The condition is good and the original upholstery is usable even if a little faded, frayed at the legs and jaded – however this does not detract from the pleasant flower and foliage pattern that is edged with a rick braid. The oak frame is firm with no repairs and the brass fittings are all in fine condition.
Overall a somewhat fantastic piece of furniture – Andy the guy who reupholsters for us is dying the get his hands on this and we feel an aged leather would look the part, please call Martina to discuss.
