A wonderfully distressed mirror from the Regency Period with its original soul intact. We love this mirror from the Regency period which is open to debate on whether you would restore it or not, personally we think let it be and just enjoy the magic and appeal it oozes.
We have very gently cleaned the mirror with great care and so you see it very much in the condition in which we found it. The round gilded frame is quartered by rings and an acanthus leaf decoration with a gilded band which is further enhanced by an ebonised reeded slip. The mirror glass feels and sounds original. The rear is pretty much as it was made with numerous nail marks – perfect.
The frame is missing some of its top coat with numerous areas of cracking and lacks some gilding in places however that does not take away its magnetism.
A wonderful aged mirror which just looks great the way it is.
