Attractive vintage 1930s Oak Single Pedestal Desk with Flip Up Side Leaf
An attractive oak desk surviving from the late 1930s which is sensible in proportion with the added benefit of being able to extend the length of the top with an additional flip up leaf by way of an iron ratchet underneath – simple, but works very well.
The oak desk is presented in good vintage condition with the original satin brass handles in place on the three drawers and the typing slide also present - sometimes frustratingly lost. There is a pleasing grain to the oak with some lovely quarter cut patterning to the sides and top. The desk sitting on its inverted plinth is in good all-round shape with no wobbles or splits to the oak. The drawers are working well and the top has no starches or ink stains. The back is also fine, similar to the sides so does not necessarily have to sit against a wall.
A great looking desk with real charm and character…
