Particularly good looking and of a generous proportion, we have six of these 1930s oak and leather armchairs which have a club/ private school feel to them.
The frames, of a honey coloured oak, are fine and elegantly shaped with cabriole legs to the front, with the rear ones having a gentle kick flare. The slightly curved arms are well carved with an attractive swirl to the fronts and the rear top rail finished with rounded finals at either end.
The rear and wide sprung seats of the chairs are finished in a tea green shade (some would say pale green) quality leather hide which compliments the oak especially well. The rear leather backs being finished with aged brass studs.
The frames have day to day wear – the odd mark or two and two of the chairs have had good repairs to the back of the arms but we are talking 1cm marks at most and as mentioned well executed and blended in. The leather is in great condition with no holes, rips or repairs just gentle day to day wear. We would say these would have been made to order and started life within a commercial building like a school, solicitor’s office or possibly boardroom.
These could work in numerous settings, whether home or commercial, being of a good size and weight.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 86.5cm x Width 59.5cm x Depth 62cm
Dimensions – Specifically the Seats: Height 46cm x Depth 48cm
