A truly charming set of eight country dining chairs including two armchairs surviving from the late Georgian period and presented in that wonderful lived in condition. These have fortunately been left to mature and age, within a home setting and have not undergone any major refurb or full scale re polish. They are worn in the right places, have a wonderful glow and a marvellous build-up of wear from daily use.
It’s a modest country style with slightly tapered angled front legs with H shaped stretchers, reeding to the some of the frames and drop in rush seats. Condition wise they are good and durable – there are a few historic repairs to the oak and mahogany frames which are of a good ability level, probably by a local carpenter, and old enough that they blend in well. They have been used, with one of the rush seats a little thread bare but very usable.
A very pleasant set of eight which have enjoyed no more than a light clean and waxing.
