An impressive looking piece of country house furniture. This mahogany hunt table survives from around the early part of the 18th century and is presented in good ‘unmessed’ with condition, apart from a couple of historic repairs.
The drop leaf top sits on two long drawers one at either end which in turn sit on its four reeded legs which are finished with brass castors. It’s a long table at 6 foot and bears a pleasing mellow aged glow. The top is attractively worn with marks and the odd stain, again historic - so gentle rather than unattractive. The drop leaves either side have, as expected, less wear than the top one with a repair close to the edge. The drawers do have different knobs with the reeded legs and castors being firm. Overall wonderfully aged and something a little different. The table is firm with its leaves out and could make a great dining table.
A good piece of English Georgian furniture with both home and commercial options.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 74cm x Width 178cm x Depth 126cm when fully extended / Depth 66cm with leaves down
