Pieff Lisse Chrome A Frame Trestle Style Desk Table With Smoked Glass Top

Found alongside similar quality and similar era pieces, this unusual style 1960-70s desk /table certainly attains the attributes connected with the Pieff Lisse range. We sold a similar table a couple of years ago and like this one had no Pieff label however the polished chrome finish, screws, shape, finish, black fittings and placement of the steel bar design echoes the Lisse range very closely. These came from an office where they were be used as a drawing desk however it would work just as well as a dining table.
They are an eye catching pair and with the addition of the smoked glass top make a real statement. The design is taken from the old wood ‘A’ frames of yesteryear, pretty much mimicking the look. Condition wise they are good, only one small piece of pitting around 2cm long along one of the metal ‘A’s. The frames are heavy, well-engineered and robust with no wobbles or repairs and still looking bright. One of the black plastic ends does have a split however not a big deal.
The original softened edged smoked glass top does have the odd scratch or two, a tiny chip to one corner and a bullseye style mark close to one of the other corners however this is inside the glass rather than sitting on the surface. I suspect changing the glass for a different type or style would be an easy process if you wanted it to fit a certain location.
We think these trestles and their top are rather stunning, exquisitely designed and a rare find indeed…
