An Attractive 1940s English Oak Sideboard / Cupboard

This English sideboard is a good looking piece with its dovetailed drawers and attractive grained oak finish. Echoing the era well with its simple lines, good craftsmanship and modest looks, a far cry from the Deco days of curves and showy appearance which it followed.
The sideboard or cupboard is of two drawers probably used for cutlery, a single taller cupboard and a wider cupboard of two doors all with the original turned wood knobs. These sit on four slightly tapered, stocky oak legs with the top edges and sides lightly curved.
Condition wise it’s not bad - it’s a weighty piece for its size with day to day wear and tear. The top does have a ring mark and a smaller stain, however neither are deal breakers. The rear is panelled oak and the cupboards have shelves. The twin doored cupboard does have a stain at the rear however this is not a problem and not on show. Firm with no wobbles or repairs and smelling fine. We have lightly bees waxed it and given the insides a vacuum.
We think this English, oak sideboard and with a hint of Heals style is rather wonderfully charming. No makers marks or labels however but of good quality and a workable size.
