We just thought this strong wrought iron and copper lectern was too good an opportunity to miss. It is unusual with its twisted iron, three candle plinths and copper book rest.
On close inspection we believe the lectern is a one off probably made for a church by a local blacksmith. It shows some age marks and a pleasing blackened finish to the strong frame which is held firmly into place with four flat turned feet. The copper book rest and candle holders edges are finished with a tri cut which can be seen in the pictures.
Overall this rare piece is in good condition, no loose pieces, two of the candle holders have bumps on the surface (not entirely sure what) and the copper book rest is unpolished which we think looks right for the rest of it, however I am sure it would polish up.
A great looking and highly unusual piece of furniture that gives off a spooky aura when the candles are lit and the lights are off…maybe then it’s time for a ghost story or three!
