A rather pretty pair of Bergere armchairs of neat proportions compared to some and attractively shaped, surviving from around the early 1930s. The slender frame with its gently curved arms, cabriole front legs and arched crest rail gives this pair of touch of grace and charm.
Condition wise they are good – the all-important cane work is in fine order with no holes or breaks and the frame is firm, no wobbles or repairs just showing historic wear and tear. The coil springs have been restrung are newly webbed and the bases have new hessian applied. This all adds up to firm seats. The material a short cut damask style, sea green velvet is again in good order with only light wear – no holes or rips. They also smell fine!
We think these are a super pair of chairs and we also have the matching two seat sofa, in a similar condition, for sale.
