A set of four nested tables which are in a dark lacquered finish with gilded tipped feet and interesting emblem of a serpentine tongued dog/wolf with the inscription NOSCE TE–IPSUM (Know Thyself) on the tops – be it worn on some. The proverb is applied to those whose boasts exceed what they are, a warning to pay no attention to the opinion of the multitude. So you not only get four tables but a bit of 10th Century Suda Knowledge thrown in with them. Something to talk about when the neighbours come around for a drink and olives…
The tables have not been messed around with, are a beautiful shape, not heavy and have height which you can see from the pictures – the lacquer is chipped in places and the tops are used and worn but surely that lived in feel is how these should be. They all stack up but are so useful to pull out when a crowd arrives or you wish somewhere to place ones nightcap.
We really like these because they are different – a good deep colour almost black but not quite and they have that used look coupled with those rather good looking gold coloured paw type shaped feet.
Following a light clean and a smear of Crystaliine Wax they are ready for their new abode.
