What cracking lamps! The cast base proudly displays the De Vere England lettering and the large pivoting rectangular shade are just two highlights of these lamps.
A brief history of the company is below:
The name 'De Vere' derived from a photographic studio in De Vere Gardens, Kensington, London W 8
1947 Company founded to manufacture Professional Photographic Equipment, by brothers Arthur Sparks and Harold Sparks with G. F. T. Wagstaff who provided business, legal and financial help. Their father William Sparks worked with them. The business was to manufacture photographic enlargers and cameras in metal rather than wood that had been previously used.
They are stylishly engineered with a keen eye for detail. As mentioned, the heavy embossed bases means they are incredibly stable. The large angled shade has two bulb holders, with the shade moving up and down the shaft by way of a screw handle and also pivots by way of another well engineered steel lever. All very industrial and wonderfully original with pleasing wear and tear.
We have rewired, replugged, PAT Tested and added a floor level dimmer switch.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 147cm x Width of Shade 97cm x Base Diameter 31.5cm
These kind of lights do not come along every day and in such complete genuine condition
