Early 18th Century Scratch and Chip Carved Deed Box Untouched Condition

Some pieces have a wonderful look and stir the mind and this deed box which was discovered sitting on a table in the hall of a country farmhouse is fascinating showing years of use and history.
We believe that the box may be Continental, however a little more digging may prove otherwise. We love the fact that it sits with age faults which seem to only enrich the look and encourage you to touch and feel the piece - a very tactile piece.
The construction is strong and the scratch carving relatively primitive with circles, rings, and swirls being the theme on the sides and top. The addition of a chipped frame on all sides adds to the appearance. The corner edges are protected with brass strips some of which is now missing. The simple lock remains and the top opens revealing the interior which is showing its age however no holes or major defects. The feet are worn with numerous pieces missing but again original and adding massively to the character.
As mentioned the piece is strong, looks rather gracious and surely would be a great addition to a collection.
