A Stylish Victorian Armchair Buttoned, Roped, Scrolled Back and Inlaid Arms

A particularly stylish armchair surviving from the late Victorian period, possessing that useful lofty stance with a good height to the seat. This one grabbed us – it’s without a doubt an attractive looking chair! The lightly scrolled arms are inlaid with a weave of leaves and flower petals with a pleasing darkening of colour from age. The heavily buttoned, scrolled back with roping to the arms and sides works well and the sage green upholstery is well fitted giving it a good form.
The chair has a pleasing lived in look without been too distressed – the upholstery smells fine, has a little wear to one of the arms however no holes or repairs with all buttons, rope and braid in place. The legs and arms are wonderfully aged and the chair is sitting firm on its pot casters with no wobbles.
Altogether a smashing chair, not too precious and ready to be placed and treasured.
