Continental Glazed Ewer Wild Boars Lid and Rams Head Handle

A large piece which would look great perched in the centre of a sideboard or console table. This ewer with its boars head lid makes a bit of statement without really trying... The piece is of glazed pottery and has a well-balanced shape with various relief figures - some dancing, some with musical instruments with a line of vines and grapes above.
We chose the piece because we loved the rams head handle and the face which sits under the spout – could this be an image of Bacchus with the overall portrayal on the ewer a celebratory depiction of harvest? Perhaps it should be filled with wine!
The pot is in fair condition with overall crackling to the cream glaze and a small chip to the top of the lid. A wonderfully characterful and unusual piece.
