A good quality 1920s oak desk presented in fine historic order having survived as a one owner piece. It’s a good looking - we’d say attractive desk, with its set up of a long centre drawer flanked ether side by a top drawer and double height filing drawers (one which has internal divisions below these.
This desk would have been a pretty pricey piece originally. Its oak has a pleasing tone and grain with no splits to the top, panelled sides and rear, it’s sitting on 4 well shaped legs and is quite heavy. We have lightly waxed the desk rather than overdoing it, so it’s displaying its wear marks (note that the top left drawer front is more worn than the right – we would assume the person was left handed) and the top is again worn in the places it should be. As mentioned, one of the deep drawers (which runs on little brass rollers - a nice touch) is partitioned. All the other drawers are running smoothly with the obvious mark or two to the interiors. The galleried rear and sides complete the look.
A well-made piece with real charm and character which has not been over restored like many you see...
Dimensions – Overall: Desk Top Height 76.5cm x Width 137cm x Depth 75.5cm
