Set of 7 Georgian Dining Chairs Including 2 Armchairs

This set of 7, including two good looking carver / elbow chairs survive from the Georgian period in very much original condition. The chairs are nicely worn in the right places from years of use - the mahogany frames are of a good colour with a pleasing patina and still having the original deep green leather seats.
The chairs are relatively modest in form being from the Georgian period. The slightly tapered square legs with a middle stretcher hold up a wide seat. The reeded back rail is topped with a fine black inlaid top rail. The two armchairs are particularly attractive in looks.
It’s worth realising that with this originality comes the odd fault or two. Firstly all the chairs are firm in structure, no wobbles and happy to be used, two have historic repairs to the finials – not affecting their use and are aged repairs. Secondly the leather seat on one of the carvers has been replaced and the leather on the remaining chairs is worn, a little tatty, with holes on the corners and threadbare in places – again still usable but worn. As they stand we feel these are a great set of chairs which are true to their age and have enjoyed a working life having been generally cared for.
So many times these sets have been over restored, destined to become part of the “Posh Room” in the house. Always good to find a set that has not!
