Full of charm this walnut and mahogany games table with its chequered inlaid chess top possesses real character and appeal. We are not talking “top notch” mint condition restored here, but a little table that will slip into a room and look like it’s been there for an age…
The carved mahogany tripod base is stable and firm. The oval drop leaf walnut and chequered top is showing its age gracefully with marks and a little of the veneer missing however the board is still intact. We would hazard a guess, like many of these tables, that the base and top are a historic marriage maybe conceived when someone decided to add two small drawers beneath the top to house the chess or chequers men. The table top has a very slight wobble, maybe to be expected, however it’s perfectly ok to use.
A wonderful little table with the odd fault, but hey, we are not great fans of the shinky shiny look!
Dimensions – Overall with Leaves Up: Height 69cm x Width 56cm x Depth 44cm
