This great looking tool cabinet found in a Peak District engineering workshop could be viewed in two lights…
Firstly its use that is was made for – a very good quality tool cabinet – Pinder were an English maker which produced for the industry rather than home so you are getting a heavy cabinet which will last for an awful long time which is all about quality build. We are thinking it would be a fabulous addition to a garage – maybe you have a classic car or motorcycle and need somewhere to keep the tools.
Secondly – it makes a wonderful cabinet for the kitchen – the height is very good for chopping and the drawers and swing out shelves perfect for ingredients and kit. It also possess a good dollop of style!
Overall the steel cabinet is in very good vintage condition, the blue paint is pleasingly worn and the top showing the odd knock and scrape all adding to the character. The drawers are running smoothly and the shelves which swing in and out are neat and tidy and click into place. The door does have its original chrome handle but does not lock due to a lack of key, however it opens and shuts just fine. We have cleaned the cabinet of factory grime and given it a thin coat of polish to seal the look.
We think it possesses a great vintage look and whether you use it in the garage, kitchen, bathroom or living room, it’s going to look great. Sadly Pinder was sold to a larger company which went bankrupt a couple of years later.
Remember it’s a little on the heavy side!
Dimensions – Overall: Height 88.5cm x Width 72.5cm x Depth 49.5cm
