A weighty Victorian oak six drawer library table by cabinet maker H.Barker of Nottingham, presented in pretty original historically used condition.
This one sits well – it possesses a stylish look, not too grand, a little more work man like with its fat turned legs at each corner and a thick V shaped stretcher adding to its gravitas. This one has served its purpose over the years rather than sat as a show table so lots of nice wear and marks to the frame etc. A nice touch is the cabinet maker’s original label dating it June 1888 inside one of the drawers.
Condition wise, as mentioned it is pretty much as found. The legs and frame are strong with no movement or repairs, the black top is marked and a little frayed around the edges and two of the handles are replacements. There are ink stains to the inside of the drawers and the odd stain with on side piece of beading missing to a drawer.
Overall a great looking table, good to find one in oak which has not been “tarted up” along the way, just left to mature!
Dimensions – Overall: Height 76cm X Width 158cm x Depth 96cm
