A Good Looking Victorian Mahogany Chest of Drawers

This handsome Victorian chest of drawers with its four long flame mahogany fronted drawers is a fetching piece and possesses a good dose of quality compared to some.
This one survives from around the mid Victorian era and is sturdy in stature. The long rounded corners are a pleasing feature which sit on a thick firm base. The oak lined cock beaded drawers are running smoothly, one is minus its internal lock, there are a few marks to the beading and play host to rather nice looking brass pressed handles – a later replacement, however not a new feature and to be honest, an improvement on the usual wooden knobs…
Condition wise, the chest is standing firm, no wobbles, smells fine, is weighty with a few nibbles missing to the veneer at the base and a slight historic surface crack to the right hand side, but nothing to be worried about as it is not going anywhere and is not particularly noticeable. The top, with its shapely edge displays day to day use. The rear of the chest is original and all as it should be - overall it is a worthy example of its type. We have lightly waxed the chest, enhancing its good looks and history.
This one could be used for its purpose, filled with clothing in a bedroom but would look a treat sitting in a period home sitting room, in the hallway of an apartment or maybe in a kitchen /diner.
