Edging towards Arts and Crafts, this oak library desk chair survives in good historic order with the usual knocks and bumps to the frame. It would be a great shame to strip and overdo the refurb on these having arrived in pretty much original condition. So just a light wax for these good looking chairs.
This is chair three of 4 of the same style – this one possesses the original Rexine studded seat which is uncommonly sprung, usually these types of chairs are just webbed – there is one split to the Rexine at the front of the seat (approx 3cm) but this does not affect its use in any way, just adds a bit more character. We have replaced the hessian base so the seat is plump rather than sagging and there is pleasing wear to all areas of the oak frame.
As mentioned, the chair is in an unmessed condition which is never easy to source.
