This one is a rare discovery indeed! A wonderfully designed and well sized metal office luggage stand with sliding shelf and draw underneath. This one may have accompanied the grey metal desks of a similar era and used to plonk the brief case onto or maybe sample cases of that era…
By the looks of its design, we assume it was not made for the home and used in a factory office. This one survives in good historic order with its looks leaning towards the 1940s. Being made of metal its heavy for its size. The original grey paint is historically marked, there is wear to the edges, drawer, bottom and pull out shelf. The brick red coloured rubbery surface is a little split to the rear however still in intact and not about to peel or fall off. The steel running rails to the top are in situ with expected usage marks. It's worth noting that the metal drawer is a little stiff but is running fine and that the pull out shelf – handy for a cup of tea is best pulled out half way. You will find that most items designed from metal of that era suffered a little due to metal to metal friction.
It has to be said that it’s a terrific looking piece which is sure to create masses of interest in a room. Perfect for home or commercial use and rare to boot!
