Early Victorian Mahogany 2 Drawer Desk / Side Table in Original Untouched Condition

So pleasing to find something that has not been messed with from around the early to mid-19th century. This piece is a perfectly sized two drawer desk or side table which would have started life as a gentleman’s washstand with its low neat galleried surround.
This one possesses a smidgen of quality – the concealed flame mahogany fronted drawers are a nice touch, the legs are of a deep dense mahogany, wonderfully turned with a pad bottom and overall the proportions are good. Condition wise, it’s very much untouched – plenty of historic marks to the galleried top, a few nibbles of veneer out on the drawers and the odd knock or two to the legs – all very much in line with historic use but all adding to its appeal. The table / desk is firm, no wobbles with three splits to the drawer linings which is no big deal and does not affect the workings.
It’s perfectly sized to place in a hallway or to use as a home office desk – a good quality piece, unmeddled with and plenty of history on show…
