With a hint of country house about it, this hallstand would have succumbed to the paint pot early in its life in an effort to modernise the look and is now maturing into a very handsome piece with the paint showing wear and aging nicely in the right areas - a sort of deep French mustard tone.
We would assume that the main cane / umbrella and coat user was right handed with more wear on the right hooks and right-hand side of the stand or maybe this side was closest to the door. It possesses a pleasing stance - probably county made – a little modest compared to some of the era but it works well, well-proportioned, nice panelled lower half and the original brass coat hooks are also a little different reminiscing horns again maybe a clue to its origin...
As mentioned the paint is aging well, the frame is firm with no repairs, we would say that the stand may have had a lower hook which is now missing however the original 3 sectioned drip tray still sits at the base which can, quite often be annoyingly missing.
A genuine piece, a good size for home and/or commercial use.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 213cm x Width 86.5cm x Depth 31cm
