Wonderfully Shaped Early 20th Century Leather and Oak Wingback Chair

This one we feel takes a bit of beating - a little different but with such a charming look this wingback leather chair survives in very much original condition from the early 1900s. It’s the blend of chestnut brown bridle hide and the oak frame that works so well, giving it a rather unique look. We have not seen one like this before and love its whole look whether it be the stoutness of the seat or the shape of the leather studded wings.
The oak frame with its barley twist legs finished with original brass castors and sloping lightly carved arms is in very good order and the original leather has aged and matured well to a deep chestnut brown with only a scuff to the top rear – possibly from sitting close to a wall. We would be a little foolish to start over doing the polishing etc so we’ve just lightly added beeswax to the oak and conditioner to the leather meaning it’s ready to enjoy.
