A very good looking Victorian chest with the perfect dimensions to be used as a coffee or side table, a little stouter and squarer than most.
The chest is sitting on its original iron casters and also benefits from a fine pair of decorative iron handles – a nice change from the usual more workman like ones… It possesses a glowing sheen with a rich deep tone and historic usage marks and knocks.
The chest has been well crafted – we would say made by a local village carpenter who possessed a good eye for proportions. The finish also suggests this was made for home use rather than as a work chest. It sits in very good original condition – no wobbles, repairs or shakes and the interior is very clean – another plus for the old chap!
Plenty of these around, however we think this one is just wonderful, a cut above the norm and surely worthy of a space in a period or modern home.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 66cm x Width 92cm x Depth 62.5cm
