A good looking bleached oak table with an impressive set of legs!
We would hazard a guess that this one may have started life in a shop. We’re not 100% sure but the addition of glass bases to the drawers may mean it was used to display smaller items which would have been placed upon the top of the table for a customer to view. Alternatively, it could have been used to play cards - either way not a bad looking table, we have to say it’s the legs that do it for us.
Made from well grained oak and we would say from around the Edwardian period, the table is well crafted with a shape that is pleasing on the eye. The deep edged top finished with four drawers is well thought out with a quarter pattern, the legs are shapely with an attractive turn to the bases and the size is also very accommodating. The structure is firm and heavy with the top secured by a later addition of a wooden “plate” to the base which seems to do the job well. Of course there are the odd historic knocks and bumps - to be expected bearing in mind the age.
It would work in a good sized hallway, perfectly well as a dining table for four or maybe the right fit for a conservatory.
