These damn handsome pair are sitting proudly in great historic condition. They possess that look that some do not – deep seats, tall arms and a classic scroll back, sitting on well-shaped cabriole pad feet to the front. They just seem to sit right, if you know what we mean. Looking at the shape and colour, these may have been for commercial use – possibly a club or reading room.
We reckon they are spot on condition wise – the bottle green Rexine is lightly worn at the front of the arms with the woven backing just starting to peep through, nothing wrong with that. Otherwise the green Rexine is in remarkably good order with no tears, rips or repairs just historic wear. The original brass studs, tarnishing up well with age are also in place on the front of the arms and sides. A recent re-webbing and traditional hessian covering to the bases means the seats are firm-ish, certainly not bouncy, bouncy! The chairs are reassuringly weighty with no wobbles or sways.
Without doubt a cracking pair of British chairs ready to place.
Dimensions – Overall: Height 83cm x Width 81.5cm x Depth 92cm
Dimensions – Specifically the Seat: Height 36cm x Depth59cm
