So pleasing to find a piece in genuine attic condition. It was found in the servant’s quarters/attic rooms of a country house, radiating true charm and appeal – never that easy to find.
The screen or room divider which may have been estate made, possesses a top half that is glazed – all good no cracks just a few historic marks and a lower half which is embossed with a rosette motif in a tobacco yellow shade. The simply carved frame with a historic repair which seems to be holding up well (so why change it?) is showing historic usage with numerous marks however works perfectly well, be it a little slower than its modern counterparts. One of the lower panels does have a split however repairing it would seem a little pointless and may detract from its appeal.
We think this screen hits the spot well – great historic condition, handsome and of a sensible size…
