We have two of these cabinets found in a Lancashire village factory which was due for demolition. This one is of an unusually tall and narrow form making it perfect for home or commercial use.
We would date it from around 1940/50 and consists of a “walled” steel top, an open drawer, and two good looking perforated doors - both with original handles - all sitting on these well angled legs. Cabinets of this era tend to be heavy for their size so it’s sitting fairly firm, with plenty of life left in it. We would hazard a guess that this one as sat close to open flame or at least near intense heat which has created a fascinating blistered finish to the paintwork especially to the sides.
Of course there is wear and patination to the doors, openings, legs and top which are all true to its history and previous use. Yes it does possess the odd bump and knock which, in our opinion, is its appeal or not depending on your preference!
We have cleaned the cabinet of factory grime and hand waxed it.
Good to see one a little different for a change and to know where it came from!
Dimensions – Overall: Height 110 cm x Width 38cm x Depth 38cm
