A very pleasing pair of chairs with newly upholstered seats in a high quality 100% wool fabric with a heather green herringbone pattern, making them very serviceable and smart.
The chairs are particularly angular in style and relatively constrained compared to similar aged counterparts. I would say that they most likely originated from a three storey townhouse than a rambling country cottage. They have the added benefit of a broad seat not only making them more comfortable but also giving them further presence.
The frames with their straight lines and attractive half circled backs tied by a central circular motif are firm with some respectable aging marks, dings and light knocks (there is one small piece of the bottom frame missing, roughly an inch long which do not affect the use, strength or look).
Worth noting is the rich colour of the wood on the frames which serves as a perfect partner to the new wool fabric seats. Please note we have a matching carver chair which would form a very pleasant threesome.
