Unusual 19th Century Black Oriental Circular Lidded Bucket Box

A great looking piece with its reeded black lacquered sides, aged metal pieced decoration, four short legs and slightly domed snug fitting lid. We purchased the piece via Scotland and were assured that the item was purchased in “British” Hong Kong whilst travelling a number of years ago.
It’s certainly intriguing us – very pleasing to look at and offering a variety of uses – great for gloves and scarfs, handy for hats, useful for the kids Lego collection and also perfect to use decoratively. It survives in good historic condition with minor wear to the black exterior, the brass is aged and its sits firmly with no wobbles on those stout legs.
