Wonderfully intriguing, dark in atmosphere this small 19th Century oil on canvas is sure to find a place on the wall or a space sitting on a cabinet top.
Relatively primitively painted compared to some, this one caught our eye due to its deep colouring, subject matter and genuine historic condition. There can be no hiding the condition, there is some paint loss, plenty of craquelure, of course you could clean the canvas if you so desire. The subject matter - a small group of people including an infant around a burning fire in a clearing in a forest/wood is truly captivating…
