Such a wonderfully painted oil portrait catching this older Gentleman’s beauty and character, radiating such real appeal. Dated 1904 and signed LH it feels and looks a trifle more upbeat than the sometimes solemn and sombre portraits of the Victorian era. The face in particular is well painted as are the hands and that blue polka dot neckerchief adds a little more style.
Condition wise the painting is tear and rip free - no chipping or paint loss and the black painted frame works well. As mentioned, it’s a good size, just perfect for over a fireplace, chest of drawers or cabinet.
A good opportunity to purchase a painting that is well composed, of good proportions and that’s just a little different than the normal - but not too different!
