Wonderful deep colours with a hint of pre Raphaelite about it, this Victorian oil on canvas makes an attractive option to add to a wall or collection. The Fisher Boy by John McColvin (1864 – 1920), could be a girl cloaked in his nets with the cliffs and coast beyond. We rather like the detail and colour to the nets and the overall quality of the piece.
Condition wise it is tear and rip free and the deep toned colours are still true, the deep frame tooled with leaves and flowers is in fine shape with only two small losses.
A delightful accomplished oil.
