A Robust 1920s Work Table Bench from a Lancashire Workshop

Showing its past to the full, this old carpenters bench was found in a small Lancashire workshop having been is use for a number of years fixing furniture and repairing machinery hence its wonderful worn look.
This one has the advantage of two deep front drawers with original cup handles making it a little more practical and a little more pleasing on the eye than some. It’s certainly not a shrinking violet with strong dense legs and a thick slab top that’s showing the battle scares of a life in a workshop and it goes without saying that it’s firm with no wobbles or sways. As mentioned this one is full of marks, scars and the odd bash or two, so if you want character go for it, looking for something newish - best stay clear!
We have waxed the table to enrich its past, it would without doubt look great in a kitchen, hallway or a dining room. A client recently purchased a similar table for a large bathroom in a modern apartment and propped a mirror on it, worth a thought…
