Vintage Abstracta Display Cabinet / Stand - Glass and Chrome 1960s

A recent photography shop clearance has brought to light some interesting vintage pieces and these vintage Abstracta display stands are no exception.
The Abstracta System was designed by Poul Cadovius in 1965 and consists of fine chrome tubes which, when constructed together form a slender silhouette of various sizes with glass and occasionally mirrored shelves. We have four stands of the same form all with lower mirrored shelves and three glass shelves.
Condition wise, the stands are in fine order for their age! Of course the usual historic wear and tear is evident but there is no bad pitting or peeling to the chrome and we have replaced the small black plastic feet which had become perished from use. Two of the mirrored bottom plates have a small chip, however nothing particularly bad or noticeable.
These are a refreshing alternative to wood and echo an era of design which was all about simple lines and well-honed materials coupled with the ability of affordability. Abstracta was made for the home, retail and commercial markets, ours may have displayed photography equipment, frames and cameras.
Great looking for private or commercial use and good to have four of a similar age and condition…
