We sold an identical table last year by Thornton and Herne, Cadogan Place, Pont Street, London – this one is missing its Ivorine label however, it is the same in every way and you can even see the two nail holes underneath the top where the label would have been placed.
The folding table is of mixed wood having some pleasing historic wear and tear marks. It has a good country house feel, is well-constructed and folds up and down with relative ease and is firm and of a good size for a folding table – some can be very wobbly and unstable.
Condition wise it is not perfect, however maybe that’s not a bad thing – a little wear around the edge of the table and at the base of the legs surely adds to its appeal, attraction and charm. There is a small split to the surface which does not affect its use and the odd mark or two to the top.
We think this one is just prefect – good looking – not too fussy and not too precious that you are too afraid to use it.
