A rather exciting find - one of four which are all in a similar condition having the handy knack of working both ways similar to some railway benches. We are not great believers in over doing the refurbishment of pieces we find, hence this bench sits in its very original condition apart from a light clean and light coating of Beeswax polish.
The bench was found in a small, rather cute Welsh village Baptist Church. It is the simple construction and humble appearance that makes this bench so attractive. Many church finds can be clumsy looking, overbearing in appearance and awkward for home use.
As mentioned earlier, we have chosen to leave the bench in its original condition and therefore it does show usage marks and wear in places, however it is firm – no wobbles –no sways - no major repairs and with the original finish rather than a fresher coat of more recent gloss.
We think these are just a wonderful find – practical size, in perfect historic condition, nimble in shape and of great appeal. Good for home and commercial use.
