A Victorian Pollard Oak Desk in Good Untouched Condition

This pollard oak desk is presented in that desirable “as found” condition and thus radiates a real sense of its history which we think utterly delightful. The wear is in the right places, yes it possesses certain imperfections however it’s never easy to imitate historic use and this desk has been used and admired for over 100 years.
The desk frame is heavy as to be anticipated with oak, sturdy with no repairs, wobbles or sways. The leather tooled top is a fascinating weave arrangement, a rich tobacco leaf colour with 3 pieces missing and worn but still usable and very decorative in its present state. The desk still possesses its original brass pressed handles and the oak is even in colour with a short piece missing on the front right leg – not particularly noticeable - all sitting on original pot casters. The drawers, some a little ink stained inside, run smoothly, we even found a blank unsigned Coutts Bank Cheque inside one! We have lightly bee waxed the desk leaving its past unbroken.
I suppose you could, if you so desired, embark on a short restoration - replacing the tooled leather top however we feel it radiates worth, warmth and real appeal in its present condition.
A bit of a “dandy” chap which would ease into a new home without any trouble.
