Oak and Leather Lions Heads and Paws Console Table

A wonderful blend of the sublime and the ridiculous. This console table with its two oak lion paws and head figures holding up a leather and brass studded top is full of character and is somewhat unique.
A good look at the photographs will point to two well carved oak Lions paws, a pair of slightly frowning yet grinning lions heads and a good slab of black leather wrapped wood forming the top.
Overall the console table is in good condition. The base on which the paws sit on, like the head and paws are made of solid oak which apart from general wear and tear is in good condition – there is a small gap between the two pieces of oak on the base which can be clearly seen in the photographs however is does not distract from the look or use. The leather and aged stud table top is newly made having been covered in a soft, grade 1, grained black leather by Andy Clarke (our upholsterer) and as such, is perfect.
We think the console table is a delightful slice of fun and would assume that the lions had a previous existence before becoming part of this piece. As mentioned before, the table is in good condition showing aged usage but following an overall light wax polish is ready to go.
